Joseph’s Outreach Ministries is proud to have offered the services of Joseph’s Center during the last two and a half years. The Center has grown from serving six people on the first day of operation in June of 2015 to over 60 per day now. The Center provides showers, laundry, snacks, friendship, temporary storage, job search assistance, and help to obtain other resources to the homeless and working poor who have nowhere to go during the day. Joseph’s Center has helped many guests to find jobs, housing, medical help and encouragement. Our guests have described the Center as “a safe place to be where we are treated with dignity.” Multiple churches work together to provide a meal on Sunday afternoons and a real sense of community has developed between the volunteers and guests.
As of September 30, 2017, Joseph’s Center day operations will be temporarily suspended at the current location at 701B Seventh Avenue, Hendersonville, NC. Center volunteers will continue to serve a Sunday afternoon meal at another location to be determined.
The landlord has chosen not to renew the lease for the current location and restrictions within city of Hendersonville concerning where services to indigent people may be located, has revealed no affordable options complying with city zoning requirements.
With the significant growth in the number of guests visiting the Center, The Joseph’s Center Board voted unanimously to suspend some operations to allow adequate time to find and outfit new space to accommodate the current and future needs of the Center.
Joseph’s Center wishes to thank you for your assistance in starting and growing this ministry to the homeless and working poor. Our volunteers tell us they are often touched and blessed by our guests who tell the volunteers how much Joseph’s Center means to them.
